Mimi decides that Brook could help her with her memory - and be the Keeper of the Wild Words. This book blends a love of words with a love of the outdoors; as well as tributing the special relationship and sharing of histories that children have with their grandparents.

Mimi does talk about her fading memory in this book, so if you're purchasing this for a grandparent to read, you might want to be sensitive to how they may or may not see themselves in her.

Brooke Smith is a poet and children's book author. She lives in Bend, Oregon, at the end of a long cinder lane. Brooke writes daily from her studio, looking at the meadow and many of the wild words she cherishes.
