Handmade Bolga Baskets - Rainbow Connection

Bolga baskets are woven in Ghana using elephant grass.  The tough, natural fiber makes the baskets durable and water-resistant. Just wet with cool water and reshape as needed, then air dry. Each basket is handmade and unique. 

In Ghana's northern Bolgatanga region, talented basket weavers know exactly what to do to transform a stiff stalk of grass grown in the south into gorgeous baskets loved around the world. To create these brilliant rainbow baskets, artisans dye the strands in an array of colors before weaving. The handle has a dyed leather for reinforcement.

Please note, Bolga baskets are typically crafted with soft goatskin fully binding the handles. Without leather binding, handles are not as strong.

Baskets will ship pressed down and will need to be reshaped upon arrival. You can shape your basket by wetting the straw and shaping the basket with your hands, then allowing it to dry.
