While I have to admit, I'm not actually the biggest fan of Halloween - I am a HUGE fan of home made costumes. There is nothing sweeter than the earnest effort of seeing a superhero's cape in a bathrobe, or a dinosaur's claw in an oven mitt. I've been crafting both mine, my siblings, friends, and now my own children's costumes for always, and I love it. Here's the catch. I don't do gross. No fake blood, no scary bits for me. I'm a wimp when it comes to all things spooky - so fear not - you won't find anything creepy around here.
It turns out I'm not alone in this - as my Halloween Hoodie post (and I RARELY post things on the blog) to date, is our most shared, pined and asked about post. I like costumes to live a long life after Halloween in a tickle trunk - so I also enjoy making costumes that kids can use and play in for a year or two more. My favorite base for a costume is a hooded zip up sweatshirt. I think it provides the best, coziest base for warm, comfy, trick or treating and imaginative play.
Here's a trip down memory lane of our favorite hoodie costumes over the years - many of my own kids - and proudly - one from a client who was inspired and made her kiddo one of the best unicorn hoodies I've ever seen! Read on for inspiration.
