Patisserie Shop Die Cut Greeting Card

Louise Lockhart graduated from Glasgow School of Art and had spent a few years travelling when she ended up working in a beautiful stationery shop in Vancouver, Canada. This inspired her to start her own line of illustrated products. She set up a basic screen printing operation in the bathroom of her tiny apartment and began to print sheets of patterned paper and cards. Realizing there was a gap on the market for quality party games, she began making her version of Pass the Parcel (fuelled on peanut butter) and so The Printed Peanut was born. The Printed Peanut is still a one-woman operation, but is now based back in the UK.

Louise is an avid people watcher and loves watching the world around her. She takes inspiration from vintage textiles, folk art, children’s books and old print ephemera, of which she has a large collection surrounding her cluttered desk. She creates her work by cutting out shapes from paper with a big pair of brass scissors, aiming for a playful line and unintended wonkiness. Her unique and recognisable work is often infused with humour and joy, making her designs loved and collected by a wide range of people.
