A laugh-out-loud story with heart, based on true events about one boy’s trip to the loo and learning that everyone has accidents sometimes.

A father is just trying to take his kids for a refreshing swim in the pool, but every time they jump in...

"DAD! I NEED TO POOP!"

By the time they get to the bathroom: "I don't need to go anymore!" Sound familiar?
Back and forth, back and forth they go. "Just poop already!” yells the big sister.

Until finally, the little brother… does. Oops!

Based on true events in the real life of one unfortunate little brother...
A laugh-out-loud story with heart, because when you gotta go, you gotta go!

Alessandra Requena's debut picture book The Boy Who Cried Poo! is packed with precisely the type of comedy young children so appreciate.

Alessandra enjoys sunsets and long walks on the beach, but not too long, because she doesn't like sand. Come to think of it, sunsets fill her with ennui, so mornings are actually preferable. She was most likely born in a hospital somewhere or other, but doesn't quite remember the specifics. She's quite sure it occurred. She spent her childhood running barefoot through flowery meadows. Or maybe laying on the couch watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Again, hard to be sure which, specifically.

Alessandra is an art school drop out. She lives in Toronto, Canada, with her two children. She isn't really passionate about anything in particular aside from a good story and an excellent pie crust.

Guilherme Karsten was born and lives in Blumenau, southern Brazil. He is a writer and illustrator of picture books. He studied Advertising and Graphic Design, and started his illustration career in animation and fashion industry. In 2010, he illustrated his first children’s book. Since then he’s illustrated more than 30 books from Brazilian and international authors. Leading him to start writing himself and in 2017, “The Ride!”, his first book as an author & illustrator, won the honorable mention at the 2017 Serpa International Picture Book Prize (Planeta Tangerina, Portugal).

Known for his characteristic style and fun stories that spark readers’ imagination, Guilherme believes that reading in childhood is much more exciting when it brings about moments of interaction and connection.
