I will always have a special place in my heart for all things Ezra Jack Keats makes. He's the king of picture book collage - and this book follows our beloved Peter (from A Snowy Day, Peter's Chair, Whistle for Willie...) as he grapples with wanting to invite a girl - Amy - to his birthday party. He decides that he should mail her an invitation so that it's 'more special". As our neighbours south of the border need us to support their Post Service now more than ever, I can't think of a better book that shows how special a mailed letter truly is.

Ezra Jack Keats (1916–1983) is the Caldecott Medal-winning author of The Snowy Day, which broke ground in 1962 as one of the first picture books for young children to portray a realistic, multicultural urban setting. Since its initial publication, The Snowy Day has come to be regarded as both a children’s classic and one of the most important picture books ever written/illustrated. Ezra Jack Keats’ legacy lives on in the popularity of his most famous character, Peter—the star of The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie, Peter’s Chair, A Letter to Amy, Goggles, and others.
