Of course we have a bias around here when it comes to anything Chelsea O’Byrne illustrates. Well, this lovely book is no different than all the others you've come to love from Chelsea - this time paired with George M. Johnson in a tale of a girl who moves far away from her beloved Mountains.

"As Marisa and her family drive from their mountain home to visit family in Saskatchewan, the mountains get SMALLER smaller smaller.

And then they disappear.

At first Marisa is glad to leave the steep mountains for flat wheat fields that shimmer in the sun and ripple in the breeze. Will she fall in love with the prairies, or realize that each place is special in its own irreplaceable way?" - Goodreads

George M. Johnson writes stories of positive change based on his social justice work over 30 years, for which he received the Y.M.C.A. Peace Medal in 2019. He grew up in Waterdown, Ontario, and in 1991 moved to Kamloops, B.C., where he is Professor of Creative Writing in the Thompson Rivers University Literatures, Languages and Performing Arts Department. He is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and children's author.

His second picture book, Marisa and the Mountains, was a Finalist in the Chocolate Lily Book Awards in B.C.. and a Finalist in the San Francisco Writers Conference Writing Contest.

Canoeing, camping, and cross-country skiing count among his outdoor passions.
